European Social Fund hasn‘t Bypassed the Maritime Sector
For nearly two years, 126 seamen and about 43 office employees in Limarko Group companies will be able to improve their English. It will become possible due to support of the European Social Fund (ESF).
The ESF funds were distributed among 47 projects in Lithuania. This support will allow 23.4 thousand persons to upgrade skills and to improve quality of their work. The project of Lithuanian Shipowners‘Association is among the projects, approved to receive the ESF support. The Head of Lithuanian Shipowners‘Association Vytautas Lygnugaris, presenting this project, emphasized the fact that “English is the language of international maritime business communication and each maritime sector employee must have a good command of this language. Owing to this fact, our program is aimed at improving one‘s English “.
Having received the ESF support, 169 employees in Limarko Group companies will be able to improve their knowledge of English. Limarko Group companies, being socially responsible business unit, not only allow employees to improve their qualifications, but also partially fund the implementation of the project.
The Executive Director ofLithuanian Shipowners‘ Association Gintautas Kutka believes, that after the implementation of the project “The improvement of Lithuanian Shipowners‘ Association members’ skills “, seamen’s and office employees’ proficiency level will be raised and business activities of the companies will become even more successful.
